Five expressways including Beijing-Shanghai Expressway go through the city. Xinyi-Changxing Railway, Suqian-Huai’an Railway and Xuzhou-Suqian-Huai’an Railway go through Huai’an, directly connecting 25 large-and-medium-sized cities including Beijing, Harbin, Xi’an and Chengdu. Lianyungang-Huai'an-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang High-Speed Railway and Xuzhou-Suqian-Huai'an-Yancheng High-Speed Railway are under construction. In the future, 6 high-speed railways will join in Huai’an by plan, leading Huai’an into one of the important hubs of the national high-speed railway network. By plan East Huai’an High-speed Railway Station is adjacent to Huai’an Economic and Technological Development Zone. It will take about only 3 hours to arrive in Beijing, 2 hours Shanghai and 1 hour Nanjing from the station. Opening up work of Huai’an Airport has been successfully inspected which marks Huai’an Airport has become an international airport. At present, Huai’an Airport has opened 23 international and domestic flights to Bangkok, Taipei, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, etc. In Huai’an there are 73 diversified channels, with the total length of 1,486 kilometers, directly connecting Shanghai Port, Nanjing Port and Lianyungang Port. Kiloton ships can sail on the trunk channels all year round and the port capacities reach over 80 million tons, forming an inner-channel transportation network which can reach the Yangtze River and seas.
